Meet the Innkeeper
Nancy Gallimore, the innkeeper of The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast is thrilled to welcome you to beautiful Barnegat Light on the New Jersey Shore: her home for over 47 years. Nancy found her way into innkeeping through the suggestion of her realtor, Benee Scola Associates, who had placed the seaside home on the market for sale. After deciding not to sell, Nancy checked out the possibility of converting the home and went full speed ahead, opening the unusually modern bayfront bed and breakfast in 2000.
Many unique features distinguished her from the stereotypical Victorian B&B, the first being that her building was seashore contemporary! Described as a “mini-resort,” the property features a large swimming pool in the rear courtyard, private entrances to all rooms, private tables for dining and no wallpaper or doilies. This set The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast apart from the typical B&B and finally gave Long Beach Island an upscale accommodation, which offers true serenity instead of typical B&B fluff. Sixteen years later, the building still looks new, inside and out, due to a rigorous maintenance schedule.
Nancy is the mother of son Greg and daughter Kelly and has two granddaughters and a grandson. Both of her children participated in helping her establish the bed and breakfast throughout their younger years, but eventually pursued their own dreams, which makes their mom proud.
In her off time, Nancy is an avid wildlife photographer and travels someplace wild every year to capture additional images. Some of her photos grace the walls of The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast.
