Visit Site

The Barnegat Lighthouse State Park is a great place to visit.

Climb 217 steps to the top of “Ole Barney,” as the locals affectionately refer to the Barnegat Lighthouse. Walk out the paved jetty where you may see recreational fishermen pulling in their catch or get a glimpse of some rare birds and ducks. Explore the winding nature trails through the maritime forest and visit the museum.

Fishing Industry

Time spent in Barnegat Light gives the opportunity to see different aspects of the fishing industry at the numerous marinas along the bay. A host of private charters and deep sea fishing boats await those who would like to try their hand at catching dinner.

Viking Village sponsors commercial fishing tours every Friday morning throughout the summer where visitors can learn about how fish is caught and processed. Net boats, long liners and scallop boats make Barnegat Light famous for its seafood, which is delivered fresh to local restaurants. Local attractions also include  Bayview Harbor Marina Kayak rentals, LBI Parasail and Jen’s Links miniature golf.

Long Beach Island is often on the list of the top beaches in the United States and frequently nominated for having the prettiest sand. Barnegat Light offers beautiful, wide sandy beaches and high sand dunes, which have protected the town from hurricane damage.

Complimentary beach badges, towels and chairs are provided to all The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast guests throughout their stay. Accessible beach access/parking can be found at 9th street and 29th street in Barnegat Light. Beach wheelchairs are available to all visitors upon advance request.
