Meet the Innkeepers
Audrey Cavaco-Raughter, the Innkeeper of The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast is delighted to welcome you to beautiful Barnegat Light on the New Jersey Shore. After calling Barnegat Light their home away from home for years, Audrey and her husband Brian moved here permanently to become the Innkeepers at the breezy bayfront bed and breakfast. After a career in customer and event service, Audrey is dedicated to continuing the detailed features that have distinguished The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast as a unique treasure for decades. Consider it a “mini-resort” with private room entrances and dining areas, a rooftop deck for lounging or watching the sun rise and set and a large swimming pool in the courtyard. Upscale accommodations along with complimentary beach passes, chairs, towels and bikes make for a seamless transition from your hectic schedule to life on Long Beach Island.
During your stay make sure to catch a sunrise, soak in a sunset, and leave your footprints in the sand.

- During peak season (July-mid-September) weekend minimum stays are two to three nights, depending on room and date. Mid-week is a two-night minimum; however, occasional one-night openings may be available. Off-season, a two-night minimum stay is required on all weekends, and one-night minimum midweek. Holidays require a minimum three-night stay. Check our Availability Chart or call for vacancies.
- To confirm a reservation, a deposit of 50% of the base cost for your stay is required. We do not hold rooms without a deposit.
- Deposits are accepted by MasterCard, Visa, Discover, cash, or check. A reservation is NOT confirmed until the deposit is received.
- Trip insurance is highly recommended if there is anything that may prevent you from keeping your reservation, such as health concerns, elderly parents, imminent conflicts, or inclement weather, especially if your reservation falls during hurricane season.
- Due to the limited rooms available, our cancellation policy is strict: we highly recommend Trip Insurance for your own financial safety. For single-room bookings of less than a week, we require a minimum of 21-days’ notice to cancel a confirmed reservation, change dates, shorten a stay or make any other changes. A full deposit refund, less a 15% bookkeeping fee, is issued with at least this 21-days’ notice. If less than 21-days’ notice is provided, you are responsible for the total charge for your room unless we are able to re-rent the unit for the entire length of your confirmed stay. When less that 48-hours’ notice is provided, no refund is issued under any circumstances. We cannot be held responsible for inclement weather or illness. For three or more room bookings of less than a week’s duration or for single-room stays of a longer duration than a week, Memorial Day weekend, July 4th week and Labor Day weekend the required minimum notice for cancellation is 30 days. Rental of the entire inn can only be done by directly contacting the innkeeper and must be paid in full 60 days prior to the stay.
- Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A late arrival is no problem, just text or call to make arrangements.
- Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
- An additional adult can stay with you in our Lighthouse Vista Suite for an additional $60 per night.
- The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast is smoke-free on the entire premises, including porches. There are benches across the street by the bay where smokers may indulge.
- The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast is unable to accommodate pets but highly recommends “Lucky’s Bed and Biscuit,” an upscale nearby pet facility.
- The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast is designed to provide adult couples and singles with a quiet, romantic retreat; therefore, we do not accommodate children younger than 14 years of age and expect teens to behave as young adults. Exceptions to this rule may occur at the innkeeper’s discretion.
- Guests must be 21 years of age or older to check into the hotel.
- All The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast facilities are for registered guests only. This includes the pool. The pool area is ONLY open to people who are staying here.
- The Sand Castle Bed & Breakfast has extended its season for 2024. We will be open for overnight accommodations April 12th through October 31st and weekends in November. We reopen December 22 through 31st ending the season with our New Year’s Eve package. Please check availability on our website or by calling 609-494-6555.
